What to expect

On your first visit, you will be asked about your medical history, lifestyle, diet, what medication you are currently taking, and about any symptoms you may currently have.

This information is necessary so that the Reflexology treatment can be adjusted to your particular health symptoms. The treatment will, however, be a full body treatment, in that although only the feet are actually worked on, all of the reflexes relating to the body’s systems and organs will be worked, in order to return you to ‘homeostasis’. This is the perfect state where all of the organs of your body are working properly and in harmony to give you optimum health.

Reflexology treats the whole person – mind, body and soul, and not just the presenting symptoms.

You will only need to remove your footwear and relax in the purpose made chair. You will be made comfortable with headrest and pillows as necessary and the treatment will begin. Reflexology is best described as a combination of foot massage with alternating pressure on the specific reflexes in the feet.

Most people find it extremely soothing and pleasant, and are amazed at just how relaxing it is. Gentle music is playing in the background to enhance the experience.

Afterwards, you will have a drink of water and discuss the treatment. You will also be given aftercare advice such as to ensure you drink plenty of water, especially over the following 24 hours, to flush out the toxins that the treatment will encourage the body to dispel.

If possible, it is better not to undertake any strenuous activity for at least several hours, to allow the Reflexology to be fully effective. Tea, coffee and alcohol are also best avoided immediately after a treatment.

Treatment sessions are generally 45-50 minutes long, but an hour should be allowed in order to discuss your progress. The first visit may take slightly longer.

Try not to eat a heavy meal before your treatment and wear comfortable clothes. Be aware that easy access to bare feet is required for the treatment!
